I don't care if dupe content penalties exist or not. I prefer to play the safe side.

So how much of my article should I change to avoid this "dupe content" penalty? a word or two every sentence? redo entire sentences? redo entire paragraphs?

I have 20 articles to promote on 5 article directories each. I want to save as much time as possible rewriting and submitting these. Thanks!

Duplicate penalities do not exist with google, generally the better article with the best links to it will outrank similar ones.

It would be best to rewrite the articles entirely, but if that's to difficult don't know, try to keep its at least 70% unique.

"70%" unique is a bit like "slightly pregnant"

Unique is unique, there are no degrees of "uniqueness"

I'm not sure if duplicate penalties really exist too.
but those who copy must have shame on themselves after earning through the hard work of others.

Got to agree with benicio, copying someone elses content in no way at all improves the web, just clutters it up witn more crap.

For 5 sites, there is no need to worry about the duplicate issue. Articles are copied/referenced by many sites. 5 is absolutely ok.

Thanks.

The Duplicate content is a word used in the field of search engine optimization to explain content that appears on extra than one web page, even on dissimilar web sites. When various pages have fundamentally the similar content.

I don't think if you spin articles or change them a little, your articles approved in articles directories. And if you want that your articles to be known as unique ones, you should changed at least 60% of them in my opinion.

Hi there.

I have seen cases in which a site was penalized for the duplicate content.

Search engines have a tendency to show unique content. It may seem inappropriate to you but if you submit a single article to 5 article directories, search engine spiders won't penalize you. They will simply filter the results and it might be possible that two of your articles won't get a place in results.

what do you think?

I think that dup content will be concern if they stay in the same domain. so, if you post the article on different place..that will be okie.

Maybe i'm coming from space with this one, but why not just write your own article's, instead of wasting time trying to figure out how to use someone else. frig you could have had a few written by now

Ah well, writing an article sounds like having to work, whereas piddling around for twice as long trying to make somebody else's work different, isn't!

While there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty (if so duplicate content would NEVER appear on page 1 of the SERPs as penalties insure this never happens), ChrisHirst is right. If an article is 37.356% duplicate then it is NOT unique. Google has a patent on detecting near duplicate content... so it's not likely that you're going to fool them. They likely know when an article is exactly 37.356% duplicate of another one.

You might as well just submit the same article to multple submission sites than to spin it and submit if your goal is to "trick" Google. If the submission sites require unique content then you only need to modify the article enough to fool them... forget about fooling Google.
