I was wondering if there is a tool that will count the number of indexed backlinks from a particular site.

If you could break down the link:http://www.mydomain.com SERP into a usuable format like the number of links that show up from which domains.

Something like a does this site link to me querry would be nice too.

Does anyone know of a tool like this?

This can be done like by searching like yoursite site:www.targetsite.com. Or even you can use inurl:yoursite site:www.targetsite.com

Thanks

There are alot of ways to show backlinks or pages in my websites.

Say you have a site that has something like 400,000 backlinks that count on google.(hypothetical) And you wanted to see how many of those links come from a specific site.

Like say I wanted to know if my Yahoo or DMOZ listing were showing up yet on my backlink count. Or say I bought advertising on 100 new sites and I wanted to know which sites did not count toward my link popularity after about 60 days.

Is there a tool I could use for this rather than search through pages of backlinks and count them by sight?

Google only shows a percentage of your backlinks so it would be difficult to develop a tool that showed whether a site was adding to your popularity. Using Yahoo's data would probably be better although they count some links that Google certainly would not.

I get what you’re saying and no how good a tool it would be but just think that Google have developed the way they show results for backlinks etc to eliminate the effectivness of such a tool. I'm sure you could write a program that uses an API key but again it will not show the whole picture and there for any decisions made from the results could be flawed.

You can use Google alerts service to email you when backlinks are added to a specific URL, this will automate the process somewhat. This is great service that can be used for alerting you when new backlinks are updated for your own site and the competition!

Looks mostly like a waste of email storage space.

This doesn't really look like that difficult of a coding job to make a tool like this.

Yeah the Yahoo backlinks would be easier to handle, Lately Google has been finding alot more of my backlinks, something like 20%, up from the 3-6% that were shown before with the link: tool. It's not really relavant to the conversation but yes it would be pretty useful for anylizing Google backlinks as well.

This would be an interesting feature as well. Scores that relevancy of the links base on there positions on major search engines relative to the keywords you are optimizing for.

That would be sweet.
