My website has only just been released, its a blog and uses WordPress. Yesterday i had a maximum of 20 users online (No Bots) and yet when i go into analytics this morning after its been updated says i only got 10 page views.

How can this be?

Analytics is javascript and if your visitors had JS disabled or blocked it won't be recorded, or they could have closed the connection before the javascript triggered.

i was thinkin the same thing...if its disabled the outcome would be like that

Also does the analytics code was installed on your entire site? What software or tool you used to check the number of visitors online...

Google Analytics (GA) is a free service offered by google that generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a websites.

Also, In my experience GA isnt updated that frequently.
If you want more "realtime" visitor stats id suggest something like statcounter etc.

maybe the analytics code was not installed on your entire site, so some pages the visitors reached the analytics can not counter.

I think GA also count less visitors, but I think its good, focus on content.

Some one once told me NEVER depend on one source of analytics....

At very least do some log scanning tools like Webalizer or Awstats in conjunctoin with Google.

I think programs which are installing on your server gets you more detailed information in some cases. Also as some users disable javascript on their browsers, maybe Google analytics code can not be run so it cant count them

That's what i've always thought was to attribute for google Analytics discrepancies but...idk anymore...every other tool that measures visitors significantly differs from googles results...i mean it is a powerful tool in all but...i'm thinking about using another..besides google's tools already almost entirely controls my website..

Google Analytic is a Javascript based tracking system. If the user browser does not support javascript, visits will not be recoded. So you can always believe the true traffic is higher than the Analytics figure.
