Okay. I'm struggling with this. I have a cheesy website and have been working hard over the last couple of weeks to get a good google result for the keywords: Make Free Cash. When I do a google search for those words, I get 62,400,000 results and my site is currently number 10 (still not on that first page yet! Bah!!). Now my inexperience tells me that hitting the number 10 spot out of over 62 million pages, that I should be getting some decent traffic, but no. Nada. Well, maybe 1 or 2 a day

My question is (noob alert): How do you know what keywords make popular searches, and which ones don't? I keep finding articles about how to use "Overture" to help with this, but it appears Overture is long since dead.

Not in the first 5 pages of google for me, so I made the search a bit more specific with co.uk on it, middle of page 2, extremely inviting text, should imagine everybody would be clicking this one when they find it.

Though the exact terms may vary according to the host company, usually the hosts provide resellers with free tools that make their work easier, ...

I'll share my way... first I look for 5 high competitive keywords after that create 5 long tail keywords to target.

Are you logged in Gmail when you do your searching your site? If you got new sites and ranking now, it will usually drop again so better create quality backlinks. Better to make some experiment too to make effective methods like getting long-tail keyword and make your site rank on it...

Starting to get the idea why "checking rankings" is a total waste of time yet??

Hehe... It's all just a bit of fun for me. An experiment. Kind of sucks that google results are SO different for each user. It makes me wonder what I am missing out on that others are getting served. Is there a way to turn off the 'customised' results and just get a generic google search?

You can use keyword discovery tool for your keyword research.

you must seect the right keywords which can get traffic for your site and are relative to your site's content.
Google keywords tool is a good keywords tool for you.

Yeah, keyword research is what you need to be looking into. Google has a great tool for that, as well as Google Trends which allows you to monitor the popularity of said keyword.

How old your website? and what is your target keyword?

just create short sweet name related to the products.

Keywords should be more closely related to your topic or product. Keep your mind like a visitor and list down the possible set of keywords that you will use or search in order to arrive to your page. Just use available tools in Internet to digg for keywords. Use your keywords appropriately. Each page should read well.

Go with Google adwords, where you canhave elaborate options on researching right keywords.

Not getting actually! What does it mean 'short sweet name'???

It depend on what site is focused on and who are your targeted customers. Just don't limit your keywords to your products; people visit your site looking for information too.

It dosen't means that getting ranked in a search which have too many results will get you traffic. You get traffic when you are ranked in keywrods which are mostly searched..
