Well I think this is quite obvious, the higher you are on the google rank the more clicks you will receive which turns out to more traffic more money etc.

Because I have many pages that are #1 in google for lots of words and phrases and I NEVER get a single visitor from Google for them!

Oh and you are also answering the WRONG question

^Maybe your targetting the wrong keywords?

Note that higher Gooogle pagerank CAN help a website to have more visitors.
You see many websites that are in higher positions on Google search engine and others which has lower pagerank comparing with next results.

Wrong! Are the results from a search at Google always listed in SGB PR order??

It could well be maybe I should find some to target

It is not important because i have 2 websites one with pr1 and one with pr5 and both in same niche and pr5 ranks on fift page and pr1 site on first place by the same keywords.
So it is just some rating that only google knows what it shows.

having a PR is good for a site but then its not necessarily mean that you can have high traffic bcoz of that...its a two different thing

It seems some people are getting Google page rank confussed with Google rankings. Of course ranking well should increase visitors (as long as people actually search for those terms). Having a high page rank (the score Google gives the page out of 10) doesn't neccessarily mean you will rank well.

It does not matter because I have two sites one with and one with PR1 PR5 and two in the same niche and PR5 web page ranks pr1 and subsist primarily by the same keywords.

if you'll look at the picture you'll understand that pagerank only works if it's being multiplied on relevance.. it does not work separately..

if you sell shoes, a link from a high PR website of a shoe factory will be better than a link from a high PR musical website

you are talking about the PR tool bar or the Actual PR . If you are talking about the Tool bar PR, it doesn't reflect Actual PR. It is irrelevant as it is not updated continuously. But Tool bar PR is used world-wide to measure the value of websites by webmasters. It gives a rough idea about the value of the page.

Actual PR ( algorithm developed by Google founders Larry page and sergey brin) is considered important by Google. It is one of the important factors that influence SERPs.

thanks for sharing this chart & thanks for easily understand this flow. i hope this is very help full to get the basic combination of ON-Off Page factor effecting to SEO

no problem mate... by the way what Google states itself is that we should not pay too much attention to all the seo things... we should just build a great website and promote it naturally, and it's Google who should discover ways to find this website, to understand it's cool and to boost it's rankings...
so in future I think there will be no strict rules for website to rank well in google
