I am still new to all SEO and online marketing, so be kind to me

I got a bunch of KWs, for which i wanna build some niche websites.
But my question is, what is the better option with SEO in mind:

1. Making independent sites for each Niche.

2. Making one big site (ala about.com, wiki etc.) with sub sites / articles about the niches?

Better for what?

Create websites with subject matter you know.

A domain name for each niche will give you a better shot with SEs.....
But it depends on the relationship to each "thing" you have to offer....

I think there may have been a lot of work put into sites like wiki and about, doubt it was something they worked on on Sunday afternoons and an hour in the odd evening.

What if they had 500 people working on it at the same time?
How many days then?.....

My opinion is if you have many persons to help you then creating many sites with different niches should be your choice but if you do not have sufficient resources or people to help you with then you should create a single site.

If your skill level is sufficient you can do many sites......

You can put up a wordpress site (blog) in about ten minutes.....

By wordpress, you can create many sites or blog in short term.

Making a big site like Wiki or about is very difficult and you should work several years for it and the results is no so clear.

Amazon abandoned the "mini-site" idea a LONG time ago.

Make independent sites for each niche. You can flip it for some extra cash whenever needed.

Depending on what you are doing, it may be better to have different domains.

In my case, I am going the different domain names for each one.

*** It is a way for the customer to 'go more direct to what they want', which would make the said website somewhat more attractive.

I have one website, which is for 'latest websites to open' another one for 'advertise your domain name here', 'somewhere for people to blog in', 'somewhere to lobby and get votes' and more.

Solid advice.

It is better to have 1 site if thats possible, instead of many sites that do the same job 1 site could do

It can be really great and also time saving working on one website and then making that a monster through addition of contents plus links. Each page of a site could rank for some terms and it may not be required to register new domain names and then set up new websites and then dedicate each of them to one single term.

i think it's better to start small. start with one site first. if the demand calls for it make new ones. but at the moment, i suggest you start with one niche and see how you will do.

I'd go for one site, then you can get lots of content which is good for SEO, it's hard to creat lots of quality content for niche site (unless you plan to go PPC)
