I heard that Google has been involving in a big project called 'Google Me' for defeating Facebook. Big G people said that it is one of the prior project there in Google. What about orkut?

yes. I also think Google Me is an active project as the Digg founder twitted about it. I have no idea what will happen to orkut.

Oh. I see. Google me. I only heard this here. Orkut users must be transfer in this upcoming Networking site I guess since this will be the Google's priority.

They should do their best to beat Facebook or Twitter. It should something absolutely new and amazing.

I'm very much skeptical as to whether ME will succeed or not, Google already tried going social with Buzz. And I wouldn't say it was a huge success. And anyway, right now, I'm having an overdose or society per se, with accounts in three sites to keep up with. Adding another account will be a bad idea..

Google definitely wants to be in the top spot of social networking websites. There's orkut, buzz and wave (if I'm not mistaken). Yet FB remains number #1 and the most preferred social networking website.

My over view here is, Google really wants to be the number one in all aspects in Web Industry after buying Youtube.

Yes, Google wants but i doubt any other social network can compete Facebook at least on this decade even Google.
