In Google help written, Its better to have maximum 100 links in each sitemap.
So does it mean that more links on sitemaps will not be indexed?
What does it exactly mean?
Can i have 500 links in a sitemap and google indexes them?

A Sitemap file can contain no more than 50,000 URLs and be no larger than 10MB when uncompressed. If your Sitemap is larger than this, break it into several smaller Sitemaps and list these in a Sitemap index file.

Sitemaps provide technique for Web sites to indicate what pages in site should be indexed and what new content added. It gives contact channel among search engine and site.
