I read some rumors that Google has started development of a Facebook alternative, called GoogleMe.

ofcourse if it's like facebook and has more especial features than facebook, i think people will also come and use that social networking site.

we'll see... but if it offers lots of features more than fb can, for sure it'll get its success as well

Yeah, if it is going to be a big network same as Facebook with some additional features. As many people are searching and working on Traffic generation for their website, so this will help to Internet Marketers definitely.

Google already have Google Friend Connect, Google Wave, Google Buzz yet this social services still don't get a boom for people. GoogleMe sounds promising but FB already established the good reputation so it will take long for GoogleMe to be equal with FB.

I'm already tired of facebook. I don't use mine as often as I used to.
But, I'd say that facebook have really established a good reputation that's why a lot uses it.

The improved businesses out there become conscious that Facebook can boost the value to their business. The Citigroup and Ernst & Young have many workforces that have registered accounts. It is all about qualified networks, invaluable to running a small business which can help produce relationships with clients and other industry professionals.

So how can anyone "switch to" something that does not exist, and may never exist!

At the moment it is purely speculation and until it actually launches it will be best to keep it that way.

GoogleMe is relatively new to Facebook, which is quite reputed. It will take sometime for GoogleMe to reach that point.

Especially if you consider THAT IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY EXIST YET!!!!!!!

Google is the neophyte in this playing field so it could be an uphill battle for them. But take note when they launched Google search engine. They were the neophyte then against the once mighty Yahoo!. But look what happened now. That could also be the fate of GoogleMe. It will rule the social networks one day.

Funny you mentioned the Facebook Open Graph Search, when Google invented and created the first Open Social Graph over two years ago and an API.
Before you believe that Facebook invented things like Social Graphs, Friend Connect (stolen directly from Google in 2o07) you might want to notice that it is Facebook copying Google that has led to their success.
And Microsoft’s $260 mil so they could go it alone. Facebook was supposed to be integral to Google Friend Connect back in 2008 but Facebook dumped it citing privacy concerns and then launched their own version.
So before you mention Facebook’s innovation you may want to notice that most of it was envisioned at Google years ago.
