How much posts must be on the home page for a new website and old/popular website ?

Why not just google the keywords you want and see what the first 10 in google have, that may give you an idea.

You know, default settings for that in wordpress is 10 posts . but in blogger is 7 posts. you are saying that i have to set it to 10 posts for every page? or ...

It does NOT matter!

The first 10 in google are unlikely to be wordpress or blogger, do your research properly.

actually google says it's bad if you have more than 100 links on a single page... and besides the less links you have on the page the more value each link passes..

each post means links.. so if you have less posts the links will be stronger.. now count all the links you have and decide which is the best number of posts for you..

One thing is nearly certain nowadays, or at least about Google, is that unnecessary repetition of the words on pages will not change anything and it will not affect rankings.

For me, i doesn't matter whether you have only one post on your homepage. For as lon as it was regularly updated, indexing and crawling will not be a problem.

Its depended on the subject of your website. For example if you have new website, of course you have about 40 links on the home page on your website. But in usual websites i suggest you to have about 15 links on the home page of your website. Less is better.
