I have a question. why aren't there any links to my page in google search when i search "link:www.mypage.com" (without quote).
but google webmaster show me that there are 10,000 links my your page!

why?

This is the first I knew about this link: idea.

I guess it gets google to return all the links of where that website is found/located within?

Could someone please explain the facts about this.

I think Webmasters tool is showing you old data and Google search is showing current data , I means ranking and indexing.

Don't look at that for yours links ... isn't safe ... some sites already did this test ...

Try to use Yahoo Site Explorer ... is better than GWT and operator link:

anyone noticed the number of backlinks in web mas tools has gone crazy recently, I thought it was an error when backlinks said 62,000 and thought it would change back. That was a month ago now and its still climbing?

The Google link: special search hasn't worked as everybody thinks it does for about 12 years now!

It doesn't work and never has "worked" see above.

Google doesn't show all of backlinks for a website to all people. Google only shows a little number of backlinks when you search link:yoursite.com
But the exact amount of backlinks can be seen in webmaster tools and only webmaster of each website can see this information.

The best way to learn about your Google links would be accessing your Webmaster Tools. When you use the Link: command and check out the statistics of some of the biggest websites that have tens of thousands of links, only some tens or them might be displayed on your page but does this mean all the links are gone? No, they are still there and counted but Google does not like people learning about each other links data.

The link: operator shows only a small sample of your back links. Google's webmaster tools also shows only a "sample" of you back links. In both cases, they can even show NOFOLLOW links as well as links from URLs known to be under penalty.

Google doesn't want you (or your competitors) to know which links they have discovered and which links they are counting. If you did, it would be possible to reverse engineer a lot of their link dependent portions of their ranking algorithm.

I think this link is invalid or you are not correctly entering the link address.

If you have 10,000 in webmaster tools you would think at least a couple would be displayed when using the link operator. Sometimes pages or sites with very few backlinks will show none, but if you have that many then it is strange. Even in webmaster tools I would be surprised if they are really showing you everything they have for you.

Try to use the "url:<your domain name>" query.

Google is not displaying all your links. It shows random sample only.
