How fast have you ever had something indexed by google?

A few days ago I posted a copy and paste of a news article about somebody being arrested, as soon as I posted it I copied and pasted the name into google and added the word "arrested" to see if there were any other arrests of this person, and there was my post in number 1 position, from posting it to doing the search was less than a minute, googles pretty **** fast.

Google index some pages very fast from some domains. You also can link to the new page that Google index it faster. For example submit articles about it, bookmark it to social bookmarking sites and linking to the new page from old indexed pages.

Jammy git - lol - did you know the Googlybot was about to visit your site?

My quickest was a couple of hours for a blog post, though I've seen forum posts I've posted appear after 10 mins or so, albeit on a very popular site.

There is always bots on the site as it is a big busy site, just suprised the hell out of me to see my post there within what has to be less than a minute of posting it, but that certainly tells you how fast google can index and list if it wants to, ie quicker than I can search for what I have just posted.

That's quite neat by google. Never heard indexing could get this fast.

That being said I remember mine being a few hours (less than 4 or something) for one of my pages.

Similar thing a few days age......Made a post on one of my blogs....about ten minutes later I was doing a search ...
And Bingo...there it was....

My guess... you did this on a blog? that supports pings? It can also happen on a web site that gets crawled 24x7 like this forum.

Yes.. they are fast.

When I'm submitting my articles on top social bookmarking sites and they indexed it within 24 hours.

the second i press the publish button on my blog, google index my post right that time.

It depends on the posting on blogs. If you are posting hourly or daily then Google can index your post within few minutes. and also it can take 2-3 days for indexing.

that was not indexed my brother some times google takes your text as it is from reference from the site where originally the text was posted and on other hand it is also true that google is picking up things very fast

Google really loves new post. Especially if your blog platform was wordpress it will get index immediately because it has auto ping features to ping search engine.

Yes, I had a new site and new domain on page 1 overnight!

If your page content changes fast and other bookmark it, Google will crawl VERY often.
News worthy links can be included within minutes.

Indexing depends. If you have submitted to some good bookmarking sites then you get instant result still this is not always

The more often a website is updated with new content, the more frequently it will be visited by Googlebot.

I have my Rss Feeds going through Google Feedburner, Google tends to know exactly when I post a new article on my blog, or someone comments on my forum.

However on my website, without the feed, it still takes quite a bit of time. I have added 20 pages or so to my main website this month and Google has not yet added any to the search results.

You have to keep contributing real and rich contents to your website to get indexed quickly in google.
