Google Bombing is the spammer technique in which webmasters are build link for a particular key phrases which is not present on the website. This technique called Google Bombing and your website can penalize for that. So, avoid all back hat SEO techniques.

Google bombing is spamming the net using a term that is not even relevant to the website promoted. This is not functioning any longer and I guess even all the search engines like Yahoo plus Bing have discovered about this. There are no more shortcuts or tricks to use for reaching the top pages on Google and the only way would be practicing the workable SEO methods which definitely are long term ones.

If you did but realise it ALL of you who drop links as blog comments, forum signatures, on social media pages are Google "bombing"


"Bombing" is the term applied using the anchor text of links to "bomb" the page/site to the top of Google results.


It does NOT get sites "penalised", if it did most of you would be in trouble.

the way it sounds its not friendly its a black hat technique.

Google bomb is linking to a web site or web page with the same anchor text for promoting this page quickly in Google search results. But this method is dead now because Google penalize this kind of fast link building.

Google does not "penalize" any form of link building, since you can't control who links to you. However, if thousands of links suddenly show up from one IP block, it's likely they will be much less relevant since it's probably just the site owner pointing a bunch of links they control at their own site. So if by "penalize" you mean downgrade certain links, then yes, certain links appear to get downgraded if they meet certain conditions, especially if they are from pages that are already saturated with other links.

However, the technique is not quite "dead" as you state. The search for Click Here is a living example. The top result is for Adobe Reader, a page which contains neither the words "click" nor "here" (though I did find "clicking" in one spot). The only explanation is that there are a massive amount of links with the anchor text "click here" pointing at the page. This supports the theory that "Google Bombing", while not exactly dead, has had the bar for success raised significantly, so that only natural results are likely to succeed. Google's litmus test was probably the miserable failure hoax.

Actually, One version of GoogleBombing is used by malware writers, Virus writers.

They essentially "takeover" a keyword.

So if you searched microsoft for example, you expect MS to be the top.
Bombing can put their website TOP for a small amount of time ( before google take action )

These sites then get thousands of hits and enable them to install malware on peoples computers.

It isnt used as much anymore in this way. But was once VERY effective in quickly building a botnet that can then be used to grow more.

I have observed people doing too many bookmarking for their sites with particular keywords. Does this comes under google bombing?

But what if others link to your site with a keyword that's not present in your website?
