Hi - could i have a bit of input on the effects from google of the blatant keyword stuffing present in the marquee at the bottom of this site please. There are soooo many i dont want to cut and paste here - but you can see for yourself by viewing the source
www.decision2day.com
oh and by the way - although its a client of mine - i was in no way responsable for this

i am under the impression that this could incurr penalties from Google - but with the keywords not being links - i am also doubtful of any effectivness. Maybe some of you could throw a bit of input on this. Thanks

Same here; I didn't find anything wrong with your website content in terms of keyword stuffing. You might suggest to your client to alter a much better content for the index page.

You really need to think BIGGER keyword "stuffing" is HUNDREDS of "keywords" crammed in alt text, noscript elements, hidden elements and so on.

Five or six repeated words is simply a waste of effort.

I didn't find any keyword Stuffing on your site. Make sure that keyword density should be 6 to 7 percent on a web page and Google consider it a very good ratio.

It looks like not spammy. The content looks natural to read.

Peter - could you tell me where your source is on this? We've had people say different percentages - they are basically wrong, so I'm wondering who or what is saying this.

Are online dictionaries penalised for keyword stuffing or too much density?

ahh right - they have taken it out after i told them - thats why you cant see it!!!
In the footer of the page there was a marquee - that marquee had THOUSANDS of keywords in in and was being used as a scroller at the foot of the page.
Some 'SEO' company had suggested it - and i told the client that it was very bad practice. So its gone now - thats why you are presumably saying everything looks alright.
I kind of wish i had posted here before i had told them!

Yeah Chris - they have removed it now - please see the reply above.
There was a scrolling marquee at the foot of the page <marquee> with 4,000+ keywords stuffed in it. Builder Leeds, Builder Barnsley, Plumber Wakefield .... etc.....Although the text was not links - so i was also enquiring of the effectivness of such a (black hat*)technique and why some other company that is supposed to know what they are doing has even suggested this in the first place.

*that is if this can even be classed as black hat in the first place - as its not exactly a 'new' method of sneaky seo and may not even work.

Not really, just an ancient "method" from the days of Hotbot and AltaVista, but of course in certain parts of the world, considered bang up to date and highly effective!

If anything given the "modern" search engine it will more than likely diminish the page content for the real target words/phrase

you can target your keyword on meta title and description, most of the time google shows those in the serp no need to stuff it.

I cant see any signs of having a keyword stuffing. It looks good enough.

Search engines do not read the "meta title".
