My site www.mightygrip.ca was placing very well in google, up until the last crawl.
Now it has dropped way down in the listings even though th PR has gone from 2 - 3

Previously here is how I placed in google.ca search in Canada

2&3 wholesale batting gloves
4 wholesale distributor golf
5 wholesale sporting goods
6 Wholesale golf distributor
6 Canadian wholesale golf
8 sporting goods Canadian
12 buy sporting goods

Now my positions are as such

2&3 wholesale batting gloves
+100 wholesale distributor golf
16 wholesale sporting goods
+100 Wholesale golf distributor
+100 Canadian wholesale golf
+100 sporting goods Canadian
+100 buy sporting goods

The only thing I have changed is, that I have placed banners and ads on my page that weren't there before.
Could this be the cause of such a dramtic drop?
Please, any help or advise would be appreciated.

SERP's are no way related to toolbar PR.

No that cannot be a reason. It happens and wait for sometime and hope that it will gain in 1-2 weeks time.

It is quite possible you are getting penalized for the obnoxious use of alt tag text. You also have almost no incoming links.

I will clean up the Alt tags, I guess it does, look pretty bad.

Do you think I could have been penalized over this?
My incoming links have not changed, so can't see that affecting postion.
But I will try to develop more.

And in your alttags you still have to many keywords:

This site has been up with the same alt tags for 6 months and always did well.
Why all of a sudden, would they penalize me now.

The best way to now the max numer of keywords in alttags is that you analyse all top 10 sites by your keyword
