I recently had a heated discussion at another forum regarding seo best practices and the use of keyword domains and iframes. I would like WT member's opinions of the following tactic:
Site A has a branded domain and doesn't perform well for the desired keywords, "widgets somecity" and "somecity widgets". Based on the advice of another "seo expert", the owner of Site A is using keyword domains widgetssomecity.com (Site B) to improve rankings.
Site B is nothing more than a blank html page with title, meta tags, google tracking code, and an iFrame containing Site A. This tactic gets Site A on the 1st page of results at google.
The previously mentioned seo operator maintains this is a legitimate use of iFrames and is endorsed on the google webmaster forums. Additionally, said operator maintains other, high profile sites are using this very tactic. However, no links were posted as citations.
In my opinion, this is a blatant attempt to manipulate SERPs, a black-hat tactic. However I cannot find any reference links that address this specific tactic. What's your opinion and please back it up with reference links?
