I recently had a heated discussion at another forum regarding seo best practices and the use of keyword domains and iframes. I would like WT member's opinions of the following tactic:

Site A has a branded domain and doesn't perform well for the desired keywords, "widgets somecity" and "somecity widgets". Based on the advice of another "seo expert", the owner of Site A is using keyword domains widgetssomecity.com (Site B) to improve rankings.

Site B is nothing more than a blank html page with title, meta tags, google tracking code, and an iFrame containing Site A. This tactic gets Site A on the 1st page of results at google.

The previously mentioned seo operator maintains this is a legitimate use of iFrames and is endorsed on the google webmaster forums. Additionally, said operator maintains other, high profile sites are using this very tactic. However, no links were posted as citations.

In my opinion, this is a blatant attempt to manipulate SERPs, a black-hat tactic. However I cannot find any reference links that address this specific tactic. What's your opinion and please back it up with reference links?

Nope you ASSUME it is why.

Iframes provide no linking value, the page in the iframe gets crawled
Keyword domains are not as important as the "SEO experts" like to convince everyone.

You can safely ignore ANYBODY who claims to be a SEO expertmasterguru they usually are merely clueless numpties who are about 9 years behind, think links are everything and being "first page" will bring untold welth.

chris - you're stating the obvious to me. I'm after references - do you know of any?

FYI - I make no assumptions; this is an actual case at hand.

I think is better to use different pages, with good content instead of this type of spamming. It's just a problem of time until Google will detect this type of spam and will remove all this type of sites.
