Which page is more likely to appear first in Google search results? Page A, has 250 links pointing to it (twitter, facebook, forums) and Page B, a 100% keyword or phrase match? Say they are both published within the last week.

The reason I am asking is I have noticed that my website appears within the top 5 results sometimes within a hour of being published. Why is this? And is this placement likely to fade over time?

I think this happen nowadays... I see my site on top 2 a few minute while asking my friend to check he say its on top 4 but I see it on top 2 in the same time. And a couple of weeks found it on top 11 and now its on 2nd page. I think Google is doing something because I see my home page on top 11 and the page it should rank is on 2nd page. Maybe Google is more concern on homepage relevancy.

When we search Google for the keyword most relevant to our business at the top of the page one finds a "Brands for.." line with individual links to some of our competitors. We do not list there although we are one of the most visible brands on Google as much with our natural ranking as on Google Products, Ad words, etc.
