I made some small changes to the meta tags on my site and I'm wondering how long it would be before googlebot does it's thing and crawls my site again. I'm pretty sure there is no way to force it to update, but I'd like to know how long I should expect to wait before it is updated.

If you have a Google webmaster account and submit an XML sitemap, then Google will start recrawling your site almost immediately. I can highly recommend that you learn all of this as it can be a huge advantage at no cost other than a little time.

Crawling frequency of SE Spiders depends on how frequently you update your website's content. The more often you update you website's content, the more often SE spiders will crawl your website.

I know about submitting an XML sitemap. I already did that and had my site indexed. My question was about update frequency after the initial indexing.

So basically the crawlers go on trends? The more often you update the more often it crawls your site looking for updates?

No it doesn't. If you update your "site" every day and Google only crawls once a week, how exactly are they supposed to know that it was upated 6 times previously that week??

The crawl rate of any page is related to the number of links pointing to a page.

I think it possible here two cases. Google is the first update to SERP in real time and continuously, as new information is asked to scan bots. Another possibility is that Google has set a timetable for updating all the results together. For example, you may do so once every 48 hours.Timetable for this could be every day, every 48 hours, weekly, and so on.

That's what I used to believe that it depends on how frequent you site is being updated though it is in the minimum of once a week because that's what I have observed. Now that you said that it is based on number of links, you gave me a confusion bout it.
