PR has totally nothing to do with site's ranking! It doesn't help at all!

Google PR is link analysis algorithm, its all about backlinks, so if want to increase PR, try to get good PR backlinks.

PR or page rank shows the importance of that particular page you are browsing and it depends upon the quality of the contents as well as back links that are available for this page specifically. High PR is obviously results in high ranking and high traffic as well.
