I really wonder, why so many people want to increase their page rank rather than SERPs rank?

Because they are clueless about what is actually useful.

Rank checking is also another pretty useless pastime.

Fortunately I don't bother PR at all. My top concern is traffic and bounce rate.

Because ther is a lot of myths about Page Rank.
Peoples think page rank is everything for ranking a website in SERP.

Increasing page rank show your web site Good will and traffic. you can increase your page rank by increasing traffic.

The visible Page Rank that is supplied by Google is WORTHLESS. In fact it is possible for a Page Rank 7 page to be out ranked by a Page Rank 0 page.


Why is Page Rank important? Gaining anchor text Page Rank links is important for ranking purposes, but again. What Google displays is not accurate.

Yep traffic is what is important to me. I could care less about what google says my PR is. If you get good traffic and backlink the crap out of your website with good quality links, plus do like 5 others things, blogs, etc. You should have no problems.

yes pr is not so important.

But you decided to sell your domain or your site then pr is also one factor there that is taken in consideration.

on the other hand, if you are selling links on your websites then pr is also concerned there.

It's only really important to link sellers and newcomers who get suckered into believing that a PR5 sidebar link will send to the top of the SERP's and earn them millions.

there are not so many people ,just a part of people.
Even if your PR is very high ,but no SERPs rank , your site is 0.

those are the people who have this myths in their head without going into further research..having a good PR is a plus factor

I haven't seen any PR update so I guess its dead and have no value for serp so better worry about serp than PR now.

Yes it is. I have dealt with a number of clients who gave more importance to PR than the ranking. PR just reflects online popularity ( to say the truth the number of inbound link a website has) and nothing else.

Most of the people believe increasing PR is the whole SEO but it is not like that. SEO is increasing the ranking and traffic of our site in search engines.
