Well at least that makes it ten years newer than most of the stuff that people post.
2004/5 was when the so-called "sandbox" first appeared so it seems only logical that an article about the phenomena would appear at the same time, and seeing as plenty of people like to prattle on about "the sandbox", why is it "last millenium" when I post something from the same time period? Or is it that you thought that "the sandbox" was something new?
There was an article on the "blog" of one of the Google engineers (not MC) around the same time, where they had read about this "sandbox" at several forums and wanted to know what the furore was all about. When they investigated it was found that recent algo changes had created this delay before link weight was applied to pages and they decided to keep it.
Also, the infrastructure and indexing changes that were in the "Caffeine update" (November 2009 - March 2010) have actually reduced the delay from several months down to only a few weeks.
Now I realise that as "experts" you all need to be sounding "up to speed" with all the right "buzz phrases", but please try to use some that are relevant.
