Please share your knowledge that what is the difference between google trends and google insights.

Trends gives you some data but no where near as much as you get with the Insight tool.Trends shows the trends and the areas where people are searching.
Insight now shows you not only the same information but the keywords and most importantly the rising searches from within that topic. This can show you what is now getting an increase and is a hot topic within that topic.

Google trend means most used keywords or most searched keywords and Google Insight shows the location where the particular search is the most.

IMO, trends mostly focused on providing scale based on geographic locations where the use of the keyword(s) emerges. While google insights had the slightest of the trends feature as well as providing top related search along with views on rising searches based on the keyword asked.

Google trends show you the countries and the states in them and the trends of keywords searching in them -- Insight is more concentrated towards the amount of time those keywords are used and searched across the world.

Google treands will show what are the hot searches at the moment.
Google Insight shows the location where the particular search is the most.
This is the difference between Google trends & Google Insight.

Simply trend is a sort of assumption about future under the shadow of past experiences while insight is a real picture of present.

Insight for search shows what people are searching on google for a given country in a specific time frame. Google treands will show what are the hot searches at the moment.

I think all the above discussion are enough to understand the difference between google trend and google insigth search.

Google Insights for Search provides a visual representation of regional interest on a map.

I have been looking for a differentiation between the two to decide what is best for my site to avoid any recurrence. I agree with the person above-mentioned trends are much better then the trends.

Google trends just shows the popularity of the specific search term to search for and Insight shows the search volume for specific keywords over 12 months of period.you can also make comparison from different group of keywords...
