2. Adding new content/ Article to your website

I think both are important in their own way. However you can submit articles more frequently than adding articles(content) to your own website. So submit articles to article directories more. Also after 3-4 months add some quality content too..

Tell me why is giving your work away for anybody to use freely is "better" than putting content on your own site so visitors HAVE to read it on your site???

Both are important and have different uses in SEO for both. Article submissions provides you good backlinks and adding content in your site will attract more visitors.

Nope you might get crappy backlinks from the article dumping site, AND if somebody copies your work and maybe even leaves your links intact (unlikely) you might get some more crappy links from pages that are made up of copied content.

Not unless you market that content that is ONLY on your pages.

So perhaps having good content and submitting some articles to quality article directories?

Both are equally as important.

Writing articles is NOT a SEO Concern

Neither is is a marketing concern.

It's a promotional concern.
You write articles for your USERS, when you write articles they are for promoting YOU as knowedgeable about a particular topic

writing article and submitting it to article directory can give you back links for SEO purpose but its still better to place it in your site for crawling purpose google love rich content and fresh.

On my own experience I found effective method is article submission.

I think you are not comparing apples to apples here.. both these have their own pros. What you have to decide is where you can invest your time/money and what works best for your online business.

both have their own importance you cant pick any one you have to work on both.

Adding new content(internal pages) to your site increases resourcefulness of your website which in turn gives some positive Google points. \
If your content is really good and may go viral then it is good to have it on your site else give it away as a guest post.

in adding content to your site, hmmm it simply makes your site healthy to crawl to for the search engine spider. and putting in fresh and unique content to your site is like waving to the spider and saying, "hey i've got fresh content here!"

first you write article or blog on your site and then after some time re write those articles and submit it to different sites to get back links..

You need to use both the methods wisely. Both are useful for promoting your website.
