Got 2 questions for you all , regarding the mobile searches and mobile sites:

I noticed that if I search on google from a desktop OR mobile device, the SERPs are almost identical.

Has anyone encountered a totally different SERPs displayed for desktop and mobile searches?

I believe that the google mobile search (google.com/m) should display only sites that are made for mobile devices (e.g. only m.domain.com or domain.mobi ).

Did anyone hear such a claim from google – if this is truly the case and that this is what they’re aiming at? Do you think the results then will be different from the desktop searches?

That's true. The SERP result are identical for google.com/m and google.com . Moreover almost every sites can be opened using mobile but the sites which are not meant for mobile version will not be user friendly for browsing. So i think it's ok if we are having a best filtered sites in Google search whether it is mobile supported or not.

Of course optimisation is the same?

Optimising is what is performed on a page not a particular device.

Yes, it's true. When you search on mobile through google.com/m it shows only sites which have mobile sites. So, there is difference in search results as compared to desktop search.

No they don't, for searches where one of my pages (on sites that have no "mobile version") will appear in the SERP I see no differences other than the normal fluctuations that would be expected.

The "mobile" search page is simply a lower bandwidth version of the usual search page.
