Does PR really even matter? I am beating out all my competition with a PR0. I am starting to think it's just good for selling links and raising money. Anyone else share the same viewpoint?

The reason I make this topic is because I've noticed over the past few months that PR has become a huge controversy here at DP.

It isn't a big deal here but we are not DP

I definitely agree. SERPS mean everything, PR means nothing, unless you are a linkseller on DP.

I read these lines somewhere on internet and sharing with you.

- PageRank isn't just an indication of how many Web pages point to your page, it's an indication of how important those sites that point to your page are too.

- Just simply ignore PageRank entirely and instead focus on building good Web sites.

IMO too, better to work on make your site user friendly, do a good and comprehensive on page & off page optimization and let search engines crawl your site.

In a way PR is significant. If you want to know the ranking of a site then it is important.

PR is a sign of greater relevance and authority.
Google considers the pr for assigning the relative rank between the different website for that particular keyword.
So it is of great importance.......

Seeing as Pr has`nt updated in nearly a year now i would just forget about it.

What ranking???

PR may have no actual value, but as long as everyone believes it has value then that's almost as good. For example, if you have a high PR it's really easy to link exchange with other websites, get listed in directories, etc.

I read in Google guidelines that PR has some factor in ranking and some are saying its not that important anymore... its says that PR is a weight to count as vote to rank higher...

I maybe wrong but as what I know PR does not matter that much but it is one of the factor for getting high on to the SERPs, by google.

For example a high pr site doesnt mean high traffic,
