On Thursday, Google announced a major change to its search algorithm. Any one experienced these changes?

yeah I think I hear about this - Google are attacking pointless adsense blogs, and about time too.

I don't understand whu there is so much noise around these changings?
All the SEO, who has experience more than 1 week know that duplicate content will blow and it will be filtered...

You more than probably are talking about the latest report saying that Google will lower ranks of some sites with lots of low quality pages, right? Well, although the report might seem new, but this has been already done by Google for months.

You can find some forums threads created more than a year ago talking about how Google altered its algo to cope with some mini sites and blogs which contain pages of contents, mostly duplicates and containing only a few text lines and contributing nothing useful to the net.

This is the Google blog post that refers to the update.

http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/...-sites-in.html

And I agree with edgray - it's about time! Anyone whose site suffers from this algorithm change (cough cough coughington post) will just have to stop regurgitating content from other sites and actually build some original content.

What a novel idea!

This is a good news for many as well as bad news for those who own tons of MFA websites. But, the main objective should be the visitors who must get good website, content or information when they search. It is a bold move.

I'm actually seeing some changes in our rankings due to the algo change. But just go through this post by Rand Fishkin for a mind boggling breakdown.

About time too. You see one of the biggest problems of Google is it has no cohesion in its ranking. You'd see really good results on the first page. Then results amounting to junk with a couple of good results on most of the rest of the pages. It doesn't rank pages in a meaningful order.

So me thinks that Google has some algo updates up its sleeve in the near future. I don't think this update is an isolated one. It could well be the beginning of a string of specific updates geared at improving their SERPs to a great extent.

(Not that Google doesn't update their algo. Matt Cutts once said that they launch something like 400 updates per year.)

I can honestly say that I HAVE seen a change.

Recently my sites are ranking for the keywords ive targetted.
Webmaster tools has suddenly jumped into life and showing clicks for keywords that i never managed to get ranked.

Either its a coincidence and my SEO has finally started to pay off OR it really has helped remove the stupid pointless sites off the search..

Good stuff

Surely, article submission sites will become more strict in approving articles submitted to them. I'm experiencing it now at InfoBarrel.

As you all know by now there has been a massive update to Google’s algorithms in the past week. Initially called the Farmer update by Danny Sullivan it’s now been revealed the internal name at Google was the Panda update. This post is in response to the latest Wired article which features an interview with Amit Singhal and Matt Cutts from Google.
Some quick facts we know:
  • The initial update happened Wed 23rd Feb in the US only
  • There was another smaller update on Tuesday 1st March which gave some sites their traffic back
These are some of the changes to the Google algorithm that have been made public so far from this and last week, what are some other changes that you haven noticed with this new update ?

Yes, we do! And already have a thread (This One) oddly enough in the correct forum as well.

Thread moved and merged

So is article submission still worth it when it comes to SEO or should we just skip this one?

Article submission is NOT "SEO" and never has been.
