Any one knows it?
I just get confused

. If I get a "valuable" link from other page, and when will my ranks be updated? As soon as the page be indexed? Or how many days after it?

Don't think getting a link from somebody will give you a 'rankings' boast in x number of days. The process is more complex and many processes are involved. If you really want to know, as soon as you get a 'valuable' link from somebody, monitor your rankings.

After all, do links hold the same importance that it had like two years back? I don't think so.

For me getting quality permanent links really helps. Through my experience I have seen that sites that have temporary links usually falls down on rankings.

Sierra, the blog is a personal seo learning and research blog, articles which I post here is for sharing, I don't provide any seo service

When I get up this morning the question came up my mind, every time I write a article and want badly to know how it will affect the ranks.

basically, its not that easy... when you get "you think quality links" you need to wait til it react on your site when you nothing for a couple of days it means your wrong better find some better links...

No one can tell you the exact time period for keyword rank updation. According to my experience when you get quality backlink it will show you the effect within 2-3 days or whenever the page containing link is indexed by the search engine.
