Hi
I run the Formula 1 dialy news website [link removed]
Up until a couple of months ago all our published posts (about 20 per day) were featuring in Google alerts list we made of the key players in the sport (eg. Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher and the main characters in the sport)
Our posts were all picked up by our Google alerts
Over the last two months (our traffic increasing) but we seldom, if ever, feature on Google alerts anymore...
Cannot think what we have done or changed to prompt this situation.
Any ideas why this might have happened?
How to get back on Google alerts?
Advice appreciated.
Cheers
Paul Velasco

Google Alerts only show unique and high quality contents from good resources, you website got punished recently? How about add high quality posts with the keywords you are promoting?

Thanx for that feedback
The mystery is that the content has not changed as the resources for content remain the same as they were when Google alerts were showing just about every post....
We would like to pride ourselves on having top notch content, good images, often breaking news ahead of our competitors.
We post 20 to 30 fresh news posts daily 24/7/365 and we like to think of them as good posts with strong realted keywords
But irrespective of this the change from having every post appearing on the alerts to only occasional post being shown in the alerts is still baffling as the content aspects remain unchanged.

How would I know if my site got "punished recently"?

Did you do anything that may result in your pages being "punished"?

Joining a stupid "link scheme" of some shape or other for example.

If not you can safely ignore "advice" like that.

I wouldn't worry about "alerts", just like rankings they depend on too many variables to be truly useful.

Just as long as people are finding the pages I wouldn't worry about alerts, it maybe that the DC they looking at is "out of service".

When I used to think such things were vital and had loads of alerts set up for "keywords", new pages being indexed etc, etc the alerts would stop for several weeks or months then just as mysteriously reappear.
Then I realised how pointless such things were, and just used to do a monthly analysis of the site logs and the site sales reports and correlate the two.

Far more reliable and much less frenetic than trying to find reasons for every glitch that SEs came up with.
The old adage of "work smarter, not harder" is an absolute in the world of Search.
