Hi.
I have what I think is a complex problem with probaby a very simple solution but thought I'd throw it out there to see what happens...
I have a customer with 2 websites on seperate domains selling 2 distinct but linked products. Site 1 sells cars while site 2 sells the parts. The two are linked through a menu so users simply click "Cars" or "Parts" and they're designed in a similar manner so the user sees no difference in the domain (hopefully).
I was wandering around the analytics earlier and noticed that site 2 has roughly the same amount of referrers as site 1 has exits (bounce rate) on the home page.
The same is true in reverse although the entry number from that referrer is significantly higher than the bounce rate. However, that's not why I post.
What I would like to know is this...
Is there any value in tracking these users individually...? For example, if they land on site 1 and go to site 2 they are clearly looking for parts. If then they go back to site 1 they are in effect looking for cars, or are they...?
Has anyone else come accross a similar issue...?
