The company I work for originally had a site with a URL they didn't like. They registered a second, and put up duplicate content. A few years ago, I took over as webmaster, and placed a redirect on one site to the other. Since then only the major site has been promoted. The minor site (where the redirect is) has not gotten any traffic for over a year.

Thinking we would drop the minor URL entirely, I tried removing the redirect. Something unexpected happened. Both sites had a PR of 5.

I quickly put the redirect back. Now we want to use the minor site ( 5 years old with a pr of 5 ) for something. We need input on how to capitalize on this windfall.

The name is industrial related, and Google has its "flavor" as industrial (plastic). Here are some of our ideas.

*Sell it.

*Redirect to a new site in hopes of transferring the "good stuff".

*Put brand new content on the site, although it would have a different "flavor", I would keep a few of the old pages so the flavor would be somewhat maintained.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Its because as you have a permanent redirect from old to new domain the PR of both is same.

I would go for anything betweeb 2 and 3. Selling will just be one time earning.
