I had seen many article saying the more pages you have for your website the better. Now how does bots define a page? I have something like viewpage.php?page=1, viewpage.php?page=2, viewpage.php?page=3.......... all show different content but does the bots threats it as one page? Or I should convert it all to page1.html, page2.html, page3.html...... ?? Please advise.

If I have heard correctly, some bots don't go further than the ?, which means it would only go to viewpage.php. The shopping cart that I use gets round this by changing the links to look like index.php/action/page1 instead of index.php?action=page1. Don't quote me on this though!

If you don't have hundreds of pages and you don't need it to be dynamic you may be better of leaving them as .html. Again, I am no expert.

Perhaps someone with some more knowledge could answer better, had no replies so I thought I'd repeat the sort of stuff I've heard before!

All are considered as different pages and I would suggets leave them as they are and concentrate on backlinks than those factors. Also juts check there is no id or sessions specific things in the urls. Thats sufficient.

Google does index each, but I've tracked them and it seems as though they have a penalty in their algoritm for variables. I tested it a few months ago with two sites with the same structure. One had a physical page per link, the other had them all from one page but with variables. The site without had, in general, 1 PR higher.

I would like to make a note on it that there are other factors then that which can also affect.

I mean you cannot get the same backlinks to both the pages. if you managed that then also if you placed both the links on the same page then the other factor may be the order so its not the exact url that may have affected.

I agree with Shabbirbhimani. There could be other things involved in my test. However, the test was over 1400 pages. 99% of the backlinks to both were among themselves so I think outside factors will produce some margin of error, but that should be minimal.

If thats the case then one of the sites even can be penalized for cross linking even.

Is it just me or does any variable page have a pr of 0. I've looked at a few sites, and they are all showing a 0. This seems to be a recent change.

OK.. I have the answer got from the google.com itself. So a static page have advantage over dynamic page...

Your pages are dynamically generated. We are able to index dynamically generated pages. However, because our web crawler can easily overwhelm and crash sites serving dynamic content, we limit the amount of dynamic pages we index.
