I put up my site about 3 months ago and have been waiting for Google to index it.
I've had absolutely no visits from GoogleBot and am starting to wonder if I'm doing anything wrong as I'm pretty new at this search engine thing.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the first signs of the bot?

Many Thanks

Do you have any inbound links from websites that are indexed? That usually does it for me.

I checked the backlinks for this site and the result was zero across the search engines, therefore the bots have no way of finding you. Get some more links and they will follow them to your site, even a forum sig like the one you have added to your post gives the bots a chance of finding you now.

hmm... pretty weird... if you submit your site to google's add url - you should already start receiving visits from google bots

As already said you need some links for bots to find you but I have some other point also to mention.

When bots find you try to have this 2 tips ready
1. Keep the content on pages changing
2. Keep the HTML clean and increase the keyword to content ratio. I saw your HTML is auto generated in C# and its quite badly generated for bots.

Try having links (Signature etc) from some good forums like http://www.webhostingtalk.com , http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/ . Google Bot visit these forums many times in a day.

Is this a new domain or this is an expired domain? I have seen that expired domains takes logner to get indexed compare to new domains.

Firstly, thanks to everyone for their valuable input.

As with links from other sites, I do have some and always looking for more. As you all probably know this takes lots of time and effort.

I've been checking and waiting for backlinks on the search engines for a while now, hence my impatience. I've also become almost obsessesed with checking the server logs on a daily basis.

I have come to believe that this is an expired domain and am investigating the possibility that the ip address has been banned. The site is on a shared server and could have been banned because of other sites on the same server.

Thanks again for all the tips.

pixyl, I checked your link popularity here:
http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/popularity.asp
and it looks like you have one on MSN from this forum.

Don't be discouraged. You said your site is only three month old. Try to get more backlinks on related sites by trading links. But avoid link farms and those stupid "link trading" programs. They are irritating to webmasters who get spammed with "I have added your link..." and my favorite "I visited your site and...". I know only a bot visited my site! I delete these e-mails immediatly. I would also change your signiture to inlude anchor text with your link to help eith the SERP's. Good luck!
