Hello everyone,

I am seeing my google rankings drop on some of my sites and i think its my linking stratergy to blame.

I am still using the method where i swap a links with the anchor text as my keywords and a brief paragraph with the same keywords and related keywords which i now grab from a onomatology tool (http://www.gorank.com/seotools/ontology/).

This is working great on msn and my sites are #1 for a lot of the most competitive keywords in my field but i am only picking up #1 rankings for the more specific keywords on google. Some of my targetted keywords are on page 3 or worse even for the UK only search.

I think what is partly to blame is that a lot of the links and descriptions are the same but also the fact that they are on pages containing text and links to sites with a completely different theme.

This is my idea:

Instead of swapping links you swap pages. You still have a links page but each link links internally to another page where the webmaster you are swapping with can put as much text and links as they like. The benefits being that you can completely control all keywords on that page and which category of sites it links to. The downside of this is that the page would have less PR as it is another step away from the main page. However it seems that google is now paying less attention to the PR of a page and its more about relevant content on the page linking to you (i am basing this by looking at the type of links linking to my competitors sites who are beating me in the listings).

As you all know it can be very difficult to swap even a single text link with another webmaster let alone ask them for an entire page. The only way i can see to pull this off is to develop an easy to install script that automates the process and devise some sort of way for webmasters to find each other to trade with. (Either that or go register myself 100 domains and set up directories on each)

Whether or not my company develops a script like this will depend on what sort of feedback i get back on the worth of undertaking this project and what sort of exposure i can expect to get on webmaster sites ( i have seen a lot of people set up link trading sites that never take off ).

I dont usually write such long posts, thanks for taking the time to read it. I would really appreciate your feedback on this as i think it could be worthwhile but i need as much input as possible.

Alternatively if there is an easier way to achieve the same effect i would be happy to know that aswell
