Hi,

This probably has nothing to do with anything but it seemed odd so i thought id ask anyway.

I used to see top ranking sites with titles like "my keword | my second keyword".

Now i dont see sites using that any more, instead they all seem to use "my keyword :: my keyword".

It just made me think that there might have been a reason why everyone stopped using the | and started with the :: . If you know let me know.

And no, i am not going crazy!

I would strongly recommend not using either one since you should keep your titles around 60 total characters and every character is of value. A title shouldn't just list keyword, keyword, etc it should have keywords that make someone click on your title when it comes up in the SE. Check out our http://www.auxic.com/fa_metatags.htm for more info on this. Hope this helps.

I think people are using "::" simply because it looks nicer, not for SEO reasons. You shouldn't make your title a list of keywords though, as that looks very tacky and unprofessional.

All that should be in your title bar is a short page description (hopefully containing some keywords, and possibly the name of your site (for branding purposes). You might want to use "::", "|", or "-" once between these two things.

I agree, it's for looks. I use "SearchBliss - FREE Web Tools, SEO, Content & Webmaster Resources".

One "-" and two "," and one "&" and this works well for me and it keeps it short.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I use this method to define the title of the sub-sections of my site e.g. "Online Games | Car Games | Mid town Madness".

The side effect is that i rank very highly is searches such as MSN on those keywords. Also as each page links back to my index and it contains my main keyword in the title i seem to do better for my main keyword.

However the same doesnt seem to apply for google. Do you think that google actually rates you higher for using words like "and" , "or" and other words you put between your keywords?
