Recently I started two websites. Both are shareware download websites with database driven content and lots of inner links. Both are user-friendly and W3C standarts compilant. Both have many thousands of unique pages with original content (as original as it can be after parsing ASP-Shareware PAD repository). Both are content rich.
First one was specially created for publishing adsense, so it was heavily SE optimized and got massive link support from the established network of my other websites. Also its layout was wisely designed for higher CTR possible. AdSense was put there from the beginning.
The second one was also created for publishing adsense, so I used special technics for increasing relevance of pages and links. But at the last moment I decided not to put AdSense there but wait until this site achieves a stable human traffic. This site had quite the same links support from outer network, but I strongly decided not to put outgoing links onto it to preserve PR spreading.
This turned to a very interesting experiment about G and AdSense.
After the first site was online it took GBot about a week to come and grab a reasonable amount of pages. The first visitor from G came in about a month after setting the site online. Most traffic was clicks traffic coming from other sites from my network.
The second site was spidered after two days of being online. Both GBot and AdSenseBot came, but AdSenseBot went away soon as it didn't find adsense on my pages. The most interesting thing is that first visitor from G came in just a week after setting the site online.
This lead me to a doubt.
Does G rank sites that aren't targeted on publishing ads higher? I mean not only AdSense, the second site does not even have a single banner, only relevant text and relevant links. Or is the high relevance and extreme optimization the reason of so fast indexing?
Another thing that I cannot understand is about MSN comparing to G in this case. G has spidered not too much pages from the second site,
only few hundreds, while MSN grabbed over
30K pages from it. But already G brings me more visitors per day than MSN does. Is it just another proof that G ranks pages according to relevance of text and links while MSN ranks only numver of incoming links? Is it just a result of proper optimization? Or is it a theory of propability issue because MSN Search is used by much less people than G is?
Want your opinion on this.
