Using 2 Word Keyword in Alt Tags

Hello,

I wanted to know something about keywords that are comprised of 2 words being used in Alt tags.

I'm talking 2 seperate words, not something normally spelled as a compound word like example... "keyword". LOL! no one spells keyword as "key word".

My products usually comprise of 2 key words. I'm wondering, since I don't have a clue and I will have my webdesigner do it for me...(He has no SEO skills) can 2 word keywords work in an Alt tag?

Alt tags are for pics, correct? Could someone post an example of a 2 word keyword being used in an Alt tag?

Will a 2 word keyword for Alt tags work?

Thanks for your time. Your help is very appreciated.

The purpose of alt tags is to provide something for a visually impaired person when they view your website using a reader instead of a browser. The reader will read all the text on your website and when it comes to a picture it will read the alt text to your visitor.

Google happens to use the alt text to determine the topic of the page so some people (actually most people) use alt tags to try to tune their web pages for better search results in Google... That said you can put anything you want in your alt tags but whatever you put should (a) Describe the picture (b) make sense to a visually impaired person and finally (c) should include your key words where possible without impacting items a and b.

JJ,

Thank you very much for the clarification. Makes sense.

It just so happens my keywords will also be very descriptive, so that's not a problem.

I still don't understand what the Alt tags will look like?

I'm just not getting the picture. Say my keywords are "multi sync" and my pay-per-click info is telling me there were 875 impressions last month, but I also have "multisync" as a keyword that shows 0 impressions for the same month. 0 impressions because no one types it in that way.

Since I don't understand the Alt tag and how it looks, I'm thinking it will be two keywords side by side and won't be useful, like example above. Is it possible to have "multi sync" as two words in my Alt tags?

Thanks for your help. Anyone else jump in here too!

PS "Multi sync" was an example I pulled from my monitor screen."

alt attributes they are NOT tags

alt attributes are only used for rankings when the image is a linked image and it is considered in place of anchor text

they look like <a href="URI"><img src="uri" alt="Descriptive Text"></a>

True on all accounts above. The alt tag is a good way for visually impared to read your site or someone with their images turned off. It also helps somewhat with keyword density as many search engines use them. It's always better to use a descriptive alt attribute than to not use one. Check out our http://www.auxic.com/fa_what.htm for more information on this.
