Help!

I have a site that has been ranking very well in google for the past year (always top 4 for targetted phrases, often no 1) However, some time last week, it lost its site description from googles index and is now nowhere in the rankings. I am hoping this is a temporary glitch - the only thing that has changed last week is that my hosting provider has migrated to new machines. All my other sites seem fine, so I can't think this is the problem. The other pages in the site are still showing in the index, but don't have the BLs so aren't so highly rated.

Any ideas as to why/where it's gone and how to get it back? The latest BL update shows a significant increase in links (all of which I know have good anchor text) and also its PR is steady at 3.

Probably its one of the things Google likes to do. Shaking the webmasters up.

So you don't think the change in IP address is significant? That's what's bothering me.....

There has been talk about websites getting banned and this effects that domain name and that IP forever. Obviously they then change their IP and domain name to stay on Google, though the next people to use that IP will be penalised. This hasen't happened to me yet though i have heard of it happen before. Google might be reading your site as new and not allowing good results due to being a young page.
If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Any changes forces Google to either improve or kill your search results.

What is the site and what keywords? The loss of the description is a bit odd.

I think I may have actually had some help from google on this - I waited a few days, then emailed them all the details and that day the site mysteriously reappeared back at no 1. Coincidence? Who knows, but my faith in the big G has been restored....
