I got a new website for about a week now. After first uploading, I submitted the site manually to some small time directories and to google. After 3 days I was in their index (INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!). After another 2 days, nothing, its disappeared from the index. Did they ban me? (The site is completely clean). What happened? Any clues?

I'd say just give it some time. Google will sometimes be slow to index a site and some weird things can happen sometimes. Generate a few more links to your site in some larger directories or in your signature on some forums and if in a few more weeks you still aren't in the index, then you can start worrying.

If you haven't done anything wrong, then they more than likely would not have banned you.

Also, make sure you're checking google properly to see if your site is indexed. The best way to do this is by entering this as a search query:

site:http://www.yourdomain.com

Good luck with your new site!

Hi Caski2,

I am sure your site will show up again. The "sandbox" effect is probably what is happening. G will put new links into a holding area until they have aged a bit (in order to combat search spam).

The two most important things to do are as follows, in this order:

1. Always have fresh content. The search engines just love fresh content. Make sure there is something new every couple of days.

2. Get links to your main page, and to the newly added content. Use relevant keywords in your anchor text (the words that make up the text link as it appears on your screen).

You can submit your link exchange to my sites (they are directory sites) by clicking the links below.

Google like to shake things up. Be patient and continue on link building and everything should be fine.
