I know this is probably constantly being asked, but any idea how regularly Google is updating its index these days

every 6 weeks?

The answer is always. just as they always have.

The Google Dance which stopped happening over two years ago now, was the synchronising of all the datacentres which is now done as a continuous process.

lol the google dance doesn't happen anymore.

google updates its datacentres as and when it feels like it - i think thats what you were asking.

This is actually just what newcomers call the dance. The dance stopped several years ago as someone else here pointed out. Google now has a system of EverFlux which is continuously updating all DC's.

What you are describing are PageRank/IBL updates.
