Yes, you will need to download the Google toolbar.

The site in your profile is a PR0, but don't panick if this is a fairly new site.

Basically you gain PR from having other sites link to you. It is a simple yet complex algorithm if that makes any sense. In basic terms, the higher the PR of the site linking TO you, the more of a PR boost you will be given.

I'll try and post more explaining in detail shortly...

Actually I need to update the link. =P

That isn't the main link, just easier to remember.

http://www.northwindwebhost.com is basically the main link I want to bring up.

Along with www.northwindhost.net

Hey NorthwindHost,

A 4 is not bad for a newer site. Work on getting as many PR6s linking back to you to move to a 5, or better yet try and find a few PR7s or higher and you might shortly reach a 6.

WT has been stuck on PR6 for ages, but I would not be surprised if we finally move to a PR7 during the next couple updates.

Google has been slow on updating PR as of late.

You are right Chief. Google needs to be good to all of us. But not the ones who are spamming.

I HATE spamming !!

:-)

I have lots of Link Popularity done for my websites myself and for my clients. Things are rising. Just need some new numbers. I got 75000 Hits on a new website in 2 months. I expect the same for others.

Ugh. Then I might have a problem.

Dmoz put up the wrong url for my domain. It still has the url I used way back when and I asked them to update but it didn't happen yet.

Does anyone know when I can expect dmoz to update anything?

When you say to get some PR6 or PR7 sites linked to you to boost your rating, how many does it take? These sites are NOT easy to find especially if the PR 6 or PR7 rating has to be ON the page your link is?
Is this correct also? For instance, let's say you are linked on a links page of a site with a PR7, however, their links page is a PR0 or PR1 or something. That will not do you any good will it? Doesn't the PR on the page your link appears have to be the one with the high PR?

Thanks!

Just ensure that you get some Geniune Good Number of Links. No Link Farms. No FFA's. No Guestbook Links and everything is fine. You will get enough good rankings with them !!

I don't have it to hand, but if I remember rightly the pagerank is calculated both on volume and pagerank. So a large number of 4/5 links may be better than one or two 6/7s.. and a lot easier to get.

You are right. But it's good to get some links that you get easily. Maybe even PR0. They won't hurt you. The thing is that they may be PR5 or 6 or maybe higher later and would benefit you then !!
