I have am developing a site that has at the moment 21 sub sites and i have been advised that they should be under defferant domains to increase search engine ranking. Each of the sub site can be a stand along site. I really need to know some other peaples opinions.

As already said if they are different enough then they should be on different domain but I would prefer having a single domain as the main domain and redirect from the other domains to the section of the websites so that its easy to maintain as well.

Reaching good traffic without too much advertising or research is – if you’re clever and have know-how – really very easy: at http://www.domainannounce.com/ you will find a lot of top level domains deleted domains and expired domains. Registering for these means taking advantage of already existing links for example backlinks and search engine entries. The advantage of this: no long search for the fitting domain name, and real time information on domains which have became available or which soon will be.

That is exactly what i did. I set up my primamry domain and purchased about 15 other domain for the type in traffic.

For example my primary is www.businessneedz.com. But i also own XeroxFax.com, CanonFax.com, ToshibaCopier.com, ToshibaFax.com etc. that 301 redirect to my primary site.
