Hi,

We have an outdated description from DMOZ which is stuck to our site in some google results and it is bugging me. It is a description from before the site was an e-commerce site. I do not want to bug DMOZ with this as we are thankful for the listing. It is showing up on some competitive keywords, while others pick up either the current site description, or text from the front page. Any thoughts on how to get google to pull something else besides this description?

Thank You!
dems

Depending on the query Google will pull the description from one of several sources. Unfortunately one of those is the DMOZ description so you may end up seeing that.

Try searching for some other keyword and you should be seeing the something else as descition. Also you can ask DMOZ to change the descritpion as well.

Google does the same for my site, depending on the search terms. My DMOZ description is outdated as well, but luckily not far off. Don't waste your time tryimg to submit changes. I tried doing this once a month for 6 months, then gave up. The editors must be too busy to care about outdated listings. I also stopped because I was worried they would remove it altogether.
