You just have to wait for Google to update things. I think using Google Sitemaps is the best you can do. Just give thm a little time to sort everything out.

You can also add a redirect so people who do end up clicking on an old link are redirected instead to one of your current pages.

Google's Cache is always a little behind. It'll catch up.

as shabbirbhimani wrote, if we want search engines to update the cache, we have to get revisited by them and that needs that we have to get some backlinks

Patience. If i'm not mistaking though Google has a way to list your site map. I'll have to find a link to it.

but still its just really stupid, google takes a lot of time to update its opinion about a site or atleast it takes a lot of time to show people what it thinks about a web page. I do a link count of my companny's site almost every week.. and while our links steadily climb up in yahoo and MSN, it just seems to remain the same in google.

Patience, this is the one option, because it is not a short time proces so you must wait for sometime and if problem is exist then writte the new article and post them, because google likes fresh content

Google updates the count of your backlinks all the time. They just don't show that count to you. All they ever show is a sample of the sites linking to your site and they update what they show you every few months. They do update the links on their end all the time though.

They don't show them all because they don't want webmasters and seo experts to use the information to reverse engineer anything with their algorithm. They tend to be very secretive where that's concerned.

In all honesty Google doesn't owe us that information. Sure it's nice to have and could be helpful, but in their view they'll get more relevant results to searches by not giving out that information.

The most accurate count of your backlinks (if there really is such a thing) is probably the count at Yahoo, but it really doesn't matter how much any of the search engines show. It doesn't change that want to continue to find more quality sites to link to your site.

I think you are absolutely right, i read a bit about this on another site, and it said that when you do a link count search on google, at most it shows you about 5% of all the links it has indexed.

I'm not sure what the percentage they show is, but 5% sounds about right. It would be nice if they showed them all, but it's probably not going to happen in the forseeable future. I generally just use Yahoo for a more accurate count of what's out there.

Mr.bugz when this thread was active a year ago the URL removal thing didn't exist. That's probably the reason no one recommended it.

It's great you're mentioning the new tool (it's been out about a couple of weeks I think), but your disagreeing is similar to disagreeing with a 14th century person who says the quickest way to travel is by horse. In the 14th century that probably was the fastest way to travel. A year ago there was no URL removal tool.

And if you could refrain from txt speak we'd all appreciate it.

Great comparison. Now imagine how that 14th century person would react to Google Earth?

They'd run like hell wouldn't they? Although Google Earth does look pretty flat so maybe they would get into it.

By the way me editing your post was only to fix a typo I made above that also made it into your quote.
