As we all are using lots of links in our signatures,

can someone help me understand how this is going to help us with google and other search engines?

i am thinking that they are going to be considered as back link to our webpages, if yes how long will it take to be treated as backlink by google.

we have our website from last june, and google doesn't show any back link if we try to use link:www.dealsway.com

so i am just confused, can some one help me understand this?

The forum links will not be very helpful as backlinks because on the single page too many links are present and to get the benefit from this is very much unlikely. If it gives whatever slight benefit in backlinks they are not expected to be showing in the link command of google as they dont show all the backlinks but a random sample of them

Also have in mind that most of the forums do not show sigs to crawlers, or have rel="nofollow" links

Yeah, I wouldn't bank on them.

Since you can include them pretty much effort free, you might as well. Someone might like something they see from this site, and link you if nothing else.

I honestly think the better way to go is incorporate content or features that other people would want, and as your page gets more well known more people will link and your PR will go up.

Best thing to do is to assume they don't in the slightest! That way you won't be dissapointed when you find out they actually don't in the slightest.

The number of links to a page in an 'ideal' world gives an indication of how 'important' a page is i.e. the more links you get from pages independant of yours not for monetary gain, the more important your page is. Having a ton of backlinks from making a zillion posts, doesn't make your site any more important, and maybe google realise that.

though the forum signature links are not going to help much in page rank,
or link popularity, they help new web sites to get listed in search engines.
because search engines regularly crawl some of these forums.

Also with sitewide links like forum signatures search engines, at least Google, will usually only give weight to a few at most and then not give much weight to any of the other links. They're aware of them and may even show them as a backlink, but other than the first couple they won't count for much.

Assume you'll get more traffic from people actually clicking on the link in your signature than you will from any added benefit to search engines.

IMO & experience - the forum signature links are very helpful in obtaining very good Search Engine Rankings...

I had 2 sites running on test where the only links with a specific anchor text for each site were from one forum signature .
Both sites ranked first for that text, not competitive only a few thousands results for each, so it could be ranked on anchor text alone.

February 2005 saw both these sites drop from the results totally for these phrases. Where they had reigned top for 18 months previously, they did not appear in the first 200 results anymore.
Draw your own conclusions.

I noticed that when I just use forum signatures as links sometimes the forum threads are ranked higher than the site I'm linking to. They help, but remember to title your forum threads to so as not offset the SERPs in favor of a forum that has much higher PageRank.

My answer. The forum, which already has a higher "rank", will kick your new site's a*s for that term. I posted a link, in this very forum, to my site and the WT page ranked pages ahead of my entire site.

It would be similar to a marathon runner racing a toddler. It could even be the world's fastest toddler and still get smoked.

free addvertising is alwys good and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
every mention on the web contribute in some way to your site text,links,url ..they all play a role.
each og them have it's own waight, and diferant search engines might give diferant waight for tese components. also keep in mind that the significanse given by google or other engine could and will change over time but much like in addvertising, ("eaven bad publisity is good publisity")..every mention of your website..in text..link or otherwise will help you be where you want to be.

this is my opiniun and others may disagree...ultimatly the more your site is on the net the more chanse ther is for people to see you ...creating interest...generating trafic...mabe revanue... and i think we all agree on that.
