I read this article about google, amazon, and microsoft.
I myself have always been a Google man myself. They are just the best.
Clutter free, great to read, great results, reliable.
Whats every1 else prefer?

In terms of their algorithms, msn and yahoo have (yahoo more so) have more or less caught up to google.

I personally still use google, because I despise msn and yahoos launch page (too much clutter) and google presents results in an easy to read format.

If msn or yahoo would dedicate a single page to searching like google does, I might change my engine of choice.

msn and yahoo are cluttered, yahoo is because it is a web portal and directory first not a search engine. msn basically the same but they dont offer as nearly as much as yahoo does.

As where google is a search engine. The reason google has been so successful is because yahoo and msn focus on other things like making money and neglected their search. Google came out and all it did was focus on search when no one else was.

75% of googles visitors go to the homepage to search. Less than 10% goto search.msn.com and search.yahoo.com, the people visiting yahoo and msn and going there for other reasons than to search.

I have nothing against google but i just prefer different things.

Also they do have pages like that:

search.msn.com

and

search.yahoo.com

LOL guess its time to change. just kidding

The only one which really gives the best result comparatively is no doubt google. They might have some issues but currently they are the best one.

Old 05-10-2006, 03:13 PM Yahoo and MSN for commercial listings

Google has an age filter that puts older sites and DMOZ listed sites at the first page where most people search. For that reason, I don't use google go find commercial products. They'll simply give me 10 year old websties that have higher prices than the up-and-coming competition and more traffic because of their google first page listing...so they don't have to offer the lowest price. Yahoo and MSN find specials and promos from any website it seems regardless of age. That does allow for some spam sites to find their way onto the first page, but it also give you established retailers who are running special promos. I think that google is vulnerable because once it become common knowledge to the average consumer that google does the sandbox thing and that the newer websites with better prices are not listed....those consumers will flock to yahoo and msn seach. And lets face it, it's the commercial listings with high PPC ads that fuels googles business.

For non commercial listings however I like google. I don't want to find spam websites when I'm searching for information.
