I think they mean the ranking by google when you make a serach for "keywords"

Yeah dore1970 is right... Ranking (in terms of "ranking well for keywords") is where, and how often, you appear in searches..

To find this out you just have to go to google (or other search engines), type the words and phrases you would expect people to type when they are trying to find information you have, and see where you appear in those results..

RP is not index position... thats different...

Google PR is calculated on the basis of quality and quantity of incoming links to your site while ranking is the how well your site ranks in the search engine result pages for your selected keywords.

Simple, make a search on google for your keyword and see where your site stands. Thats your "ranking" and I ams ure that what you ultimately want to improve.
