Chris is right. Never trust the toolbar. I've seen it report PR for sites that have no backlinks period and not report PR for sites that have millions (like PrayPal.)

You can pretty well ignore the value these days.

what i think, paypal.com is a secured page. as far as i know secured pages don't have a PR.

the domain should have pr 9or 10 i think, but on the toolbar you only see the pr of a page, which is secured thus 0

Yep, google's toolbar doesn't request PageRank data when you are on a secure site.

Nope, the toolbar does show PR for https pages

paypal showing 9 for me (now I've bothered looking).

But I don't think anybody really cares what the PR of paypal's home page really is, The OP simply wanted to know why?

and the answer was quite simple;

the toolbar display is useless.

If it's not being reported accurately, and it's on a delay, then it becomes worthless on those grounds. The former is the case with PayPal.

Besides, PageRank is only useful to those who are obsessed with it.

Why would I care ?? Why would they care ??

More to the point is that you can only "see" the toolbar version, which is an inaccurate, out of date guesstimate of the real figure.

It's only value is to the ones selling links based on the "value" of PR to the numpties who thinks it's important
