Google Cache

Hello,
I am new to the forum, so please excuse my stupid questions:
Does google need to cache your website before it's searchable by the public?
My site was cahced about three weeks ago but not since, it's strange because there is always new content on my site and google used to cache on a regular basis, I don't know if there is any content on my website that it doesn't like?
Any information would be great, thanks.
Oz

Give more time for your site to get completely indexed.

Google is showing they've indexed over 100 pages of your site. Being indexed though is not the same as showing up in search results. Depending on the search you want to show for it can take a lot of time and hard work.

Is there some terms and conditions I can read, perhaps I've breached it somewhere in one of my posts?
From your personal experiences, whats the longest you have waited fo a cache?
Thank you for your help so far.

Ok I've read the terms and conditions and I know I haven't breached them. However I spotted this:
"Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages".
I don't know how to break the site map into separate pages though?

I'm not sure how many pages your site has, but again Google is showing they have indexed 106 of your pages and they do seem to be cached. Here's the search at Google
The sitemap Google is referring to is one you create on your own site and not the Google Sitemap program. All they mean is if you had say 300 pages instead of including one sitemap page with 300 links you would be better to create 3 sitemap pages each with 100 links. And again the sitemap they are referring to here is one you would create on your own site.

It's only cached up to the 21st of June, which is when it stopped.
If I wanted to create two sitemap files, what do I call each one. Obviously I call the first one sitemap.xml, what do I call the next one and how do I get google to review both at the same time.
I have about 150 pages and I will stick to the google guidelines.
Thanks.

I understand now, but have a question. Have those pages actually changed in the last month? I assume the main page will change and new pages are added to the site, but if the actual pages from the June 21st cache haven't changed there isn't any reason for Google to update the cache of those pages.
The xml sitemaps are when you sign up as a member of the Google Sitemaps program. What they were referring to was when you add a sitemap page or pages to your site. Those sitemap pages are just html with links pointing to all your other pages. You really won't need to add sitemap pages to your site and also sign up for the Google Sitemap program. I realize it can be confusing with all the sitemap/Sitemap, but they are two different things.
The ones you add to your site won't be xml and if you need more than one you can call them sitemap1.html, sitemap2.html, etc. In fact they don't actually need to be called sitemap though that's the norm. They just need to be a page or pages with simple text links to your other pages to make it easy for search spiders to find your pages.

I guess I have to be patient.

Hi Vangogh,
I was looking through my site and I wonder if this post is a violation of Google's T&C's:
http://edrinker.com/2006/06/30/spam-...ral-ignorance/
Because it's almost a month now since it last chached and I know google comes by every day.
Mind you, wouldn't get black listed if it didn't like the post. As you can see I show everyone an example of a spam email.

I don't think that post would be anything that would cause a problem. Keep in mind that just because Google visits the site doesn't mean they visit every page. And even if they visit the page it doesn't mean they index the page or update the cache.
Do you know if and when Google visited that specific page?

No I don't but I do know that post was 5 days after it's orginal cache.
I don't remember exactly but I think google was caching my site once every 10 days.

Weird I'm still seeing a June 19th date for the cache of your home page. You might try signing up with Google Webmaster Tools. Second link on the left. You don't need to submit a sitemap or anything, but once you verify your site you can get back some reports from Google that might let you know if there's an issue.

Since we started this thread I've learned that Google used to visit a page, but only change the cache date if something on the page changed. If the pages in question didn't change the date would always show the same.
They've recently changed things and will now be updating the cache date when googlebot visits regardless of whether or not there are any changes to the page.
I hate to say it again, but now it might really be just a little more time. If googlebot hasn't been by since they changed things your cache date will still be from awhile back.
I wish I had a better answer for you.

Thanks Steven, do you know when these changes are going to take place and just out of interest how or where did you hear about this?

As far as I know the changes are already in effect. I caught it on Matt Cutt's blog in his post on Crawl dates in the Google cahce. I thought about this thread as soon as I saw it, but guess I forgot to update things so I'm gald you posted again. The post is from Sep 6th.
