PR Update today - 13th July 2006

It seems as if a PR update is occurring. My PR was updated. The site is very new and www.anmartech.com has a PR of 1 while www.forums.anmartech.com has a PR of 2. That is confusing. Or is the update not complete?
I got these Stats from the Google Toolbar - tested both in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer Beta 3

I'm not seeing any updates, You can get PR from all datacenters here http://livepr.raketforskning.com
PR updates don't excite me now as much as they used to lol..
I feel like a kid who figured out where my christmas presents come from.

I'm seeing the update on my links though Google seems to be showing a few less than they were before. I think that happened with the last update too. The backlinks they showed dropped for a few days before finally increasing.
PR still showing the same, which could simply mean no change for me or they haven't gotten to my site yet.
Oh well like Adam said neither really affects the overall value of my site. Nice to see the updates anyway. Toolbar PR is meaningless, but it's still fun.
Should we take bets on when all the 'Why did my site lose PR' threads start?

The update seems to be underway though not everyone will see changes of course and those that do won't necessarily see them at the same time.

It has been a wacky update so far. Some of my sites that I expected to jump did nothing, while some sites which have 1 or 2 low pr backlinks, like http://www.soarticles.com have gained in pr when I dis not anticipate them to. On the whole, no established, older sites have gained in pr

I had a couple of zero pr blogs go to 4, But a pr5 go to 3 and some others that had no change. Also a reduction in backlinks shown from google.
I made a blog post predicting that this PR update would see a lot of sites lose PR, and it looks like they are.. Give it time to settle though..

I've seen plenty of odd PR changes for sites. A client of mine who's done no marketing for himself and has at most 2 backlinks, one being from my site, no has the same PR as my site. I really don't expect it will stay that way. Google's PR dance usually isn't an instaneous thing. It will take a little time before everything sorts itself out.
Of course it is important to remember that toolbar PR is pretty meaningless. The only thing you might use it for is a very quick measure of a site's link popularity, but given that PR is easy to manipulate for those who know how it's not always a good quick measure of anything.
Maybe this update is Google's way of confirming what we already know about how meaningless toolbar PR is. Or maybe we all need to sit tight and be patient a little longer.

It does seem to me that google are trying to reduce webmasters fixation with toolbar PR because of the amount of spammy linkage in creates.
I'm not sure we have seen the end of this PR update, It seems that sites that would deserve a PR increase have seen nothing, or even a decrease, and spammy sites are increasing... So whaever google were trying to do didn't work very well and i expect we will see more changes in the coming days.

Yeah useless or not everytime someone mentions PR it is a bit of branding for Google so something tells me it will be with us for awhile. Behind the scenes real PR is determined through an iterative process. I see no reason to think the same isn't true for toolbar PR.
