I posted this as a reply to another thread in the PHP forum but I think it got lost, so I will repost it here.

Do the phrases need to be in the same sentence.

For example, one phrase that Word Tracker is suggesting for one of my pages is:

no money down with $1000 cash back at closing

Do I have to have that EXACT phrase in my content or would the following text trigger it:

Code:
Today I am going to teach you how to buy a home.
No matter who you are or where you live this article will
get down to the basics for you. The biggest problem most
people have with owning their own home is saving the
money for the deposit. With the simple steps I show
you hear you can have your very own home. Closing a
property transaction will usually take place at a lawyers
office and they can charge up to $1000 for their services.
Just because the lawyer is charging a lot of money doesn't
mean that he/she will get back to you fast when you call them.

I just subscribed to word tracker. One of the phrases that I narrowed down was the following:

Code:
no money down with $1000 cash back at closing
Now, I need to know if a user types that EXACTLY the same as above, do I need to have that EXACT sentence on my page somewhere?

OR, for following blurb of text contains all the same words only mixed in to a bunch of others:

Code:
Today I am going to teach you how to buy a home.
No matter who you are or where you live this article will
get down to the basics for you. The biggest problem most
people have with owning their own home is saving the
money for the deposit. With the simple steps I show

property transaction will usually take place at a lawyers
office and they can charge up to $1000 for their services.
Just because the lawyer is charging a lot of money doesn't
mean that he/she will get back to you fast when you call them.
I've read in the forums here to "sprinkle" your keywords throughout the content. So, does that mean find a way to fit the whole sentence in or pick it apart like i have done in the blurb making sure all the words are there.

It will probably help to have the exact phrase, but you can still be found for phrases even if you don't write them exactly the way they are typed into a search engine.

If someone types the phrase you mentioned into a search engine the search engine will most lilely ignore the words 'no', 'with', and 'at' so leaving them out shouldn't make a difference in where you rank.

Still having the phrase exactly will help, but it's probably not necessary. When I searched Google for the phrase (no quotes) there were 5,590,000 results. When I add the quotes for an exact match search there were 0 results.

so does that mean that I should put the exact phrase in? Or is that only beneficial if someone puts quotes around their query?

I think it's far more important to write the page naturally for the people who will read it. If it makes sense to use the exact phrase somewhere it will probably help, but I wouldn't be overly concerned with it. I doubt many people will use the exact phrase with quotes around it. I doubt many people will use that exact phrase at all, though that's just a guess on my part.

If you can find a place to use that exact phrase then I would use it since it will probably help whether or not someone uses quotes. However, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You should be able to compete on the phrase just by using all or even most of the words in the phrase.
